  • UW-Madison Inventing Wisconsin DVD
    Succeeding With Tech Transfer at UW-Madisonis a compilation of several conversations with UW-Madison faculty who have mastered the various aspects of industry relations and business startups.   • NorthStar Economics, Inc.
    A private economic consulting and research firm dedicated to the development and implementation of New Economy economic development strategies. The Web site contains links to presentations and publications dealing with venture capital and angel investing, among other topics.
  • Wisconsin Technology Network
    This Web-based news and feature publication covers local, state, regional and—when relevant to Wisconsin—national news and events related to high-technology emerging companies. WTN also organizes two major conferences annually, Fusion2006 CEO-CIO Symposium and Digital Healthcare.
  • Angel Capital Resource Center, Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions
    Hosted by the Wisconsin Department of Financial institutions. A “yellow pages” of angel-investing resources for investors and early-stage companies. Site includes information about and links to Wisconsin Act 255 (Angel tax credits).
  • The Art of the Start
    Guy Kawasaki’s self-described “Weapon of Mass Construction.” Guy’s own Web site says it most eloquently: “When you get pregnant, you read What to Expect When You’re Expecting. When you get laid off, you read What Color is Your Parachute?. When you get entrepreneurial, you read The Art of the Start.
  • Capital Formation Institute
    The Capital Formation Institute focuses on research and education in the fields of early stage capital financing and enterprise creation and growth. The CFI website offers a collection of useful articles and interviews that can help bridge the gap between early stage investors and early stagte enterprises.
  • Center for Venture Research, University of New Hampshire
    A multidisciplinary research unit of the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire. The center’s principal area of expertise is in the study of early-stage equity financing for high-growth ventures.
  • Start-ups and Angels Blog
    Tim Keane, Enterpreneur-in-residence at the Kohler Center, Marquette University and managing director of Golden Angels, offers up his thinking about how an angel thinks about deals and working with high tech entrepreneurs at his Startups and Angels blog.

    A diverse collection of business resources for early-stage and emerging companies.
  • National Association of Seed and Venture Funds Entrepreneurship Resources
    Click on “News,” then either “Current Issue” or “Archive,” for compiled headlines related to seed-stage company investing.
  • PricewaterhouseCoopers Entrepreneur Resource Center
    This link leads to the “Vision to Reality” section of the Price Waterhouse Coopers Web site where PwC has posted many guidance materials for emerging companies on sourcing capital, business planning and strategic development.
  • Sherpa Partners Resources for Entrepreneurs
    Click on “Resources for Entrepreneurs” link at left margin. Also browse this site for other insights every entrepreneur should consider before contacting a venture-capital firm. See especially “Venture Capital Jargon” and “Submitting Your Plan.”
  • Entrepreneurship Association of UW-Madison
    A listing of several Web sites offering content for entrepreneurs and business planning.
  • Midwest Research University Network
    Startup business development links to more than 20 leading research institutions in the Midwest. The infrastructure that supports entrepreneurship and startup business development in the Madison area includes a diverse group of private companies that provide key services to emerging and startup companies. These include law firms, accountants, business planning and strategy consultants, product development or prototyping specialty firms, business incubator facilities, recruiters and public relations/communications firms, to name a few.
  • Kauffman eVenturing™
    A Web site launched by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation dedicated to serving the needs of entrepreneurs. Contains articles, tools, tips, stories, interviews and an entrepreneur’s viewpoint blog. Topics span the breadth of issues faced by early-stage companies.
