    This day-long workshop is intended for companies interested in or involved in international trade. It includes a lunchtime review of the Obama administration’s first year in office by the history department's Jeremi Suri. Broken into three sessions: morning, lunch and afternoon.     Steven Casper, Keck Graduate Institute, will discuss his current research on key features that influence the development of biotechnology clusters. Casper uses data on 2,500 senior managers in California working in biotechnology between 1976 to 2005 and identifies important distinctions in the organization of three key regions: San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

    The New Arts Venture Challenge is a competition to encourage new thinking and innovative ideas in the arts. Entrants will develop and present an arts event, exhibition, series or project in any artistic discipline. Proposals should demonstrate creativity, innovation, added value to the arts and potential for success. The winner will receive a $2,000 award and the chance to present their work to the public.
